The Bullhook Bottoms Black Powder Club annual Christmas Turkey Shoot was held Dec. 11 at the Hill County Shooting Range, with 12 shooters participating in the afternoon event.
Weather conditions were excellent with above normal temperatures and very little wind.
Winners in the six events were (each X indicates a bull's-eye):
25-yard pistol (5 shots) - first, Dick Hanson, Havre, 45; second, Randy Owens, Havre, 37; third, Tom Anderson, Havre, 36.
25-yard offhand match - first, Alan Dees, Havre, 46X; second, Randy Owens, Havre, 40; third, Greg Greenwood, Havre, 38.
50-yard offhand - first, Bob Doney, Havre, 46X; second, Randy Owens, Havre, 45; third, Greg Greenwood, Havre, 43.
50-yard X-sticks - first, Bob Doney, Havre, 48; second, Jim Griggs, Havre, 47; third, Damon Owens, Havre, 44.
50-yard curly wolf - first, Bob Doney, Havre, 45X; second, Alan Dees, Havre, 39; third, Randy Owens, Havre, 29.
50-yard offhand black powder cartridge - first, Dick Hanson, Havre, 41; second, Alan Dees, Havre, 41; third, Bob Doney, Havre, 37.
Payouts for the events were frozen turkeys with a stipulation that no one could win more than one turkey.
Anyone wishing to know more about black powder shooting can attend a club meeting the first Wednesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at Griggs Printing.
