The Havre High girls swim team finished in seventh place out a 10-team field at the Helena Invitational, as the Ponies scored 70 team points. The Bozeman girls easily captured the meet with 260 points.
Individually, the Ponies got a strong effort from Megan Reinke. She finished in fifth place in the 100 backstroke, and teammate Kenzie Johnson finished fifth in the 50 freestyle race. Jessie Obrecht finished seventh in the 100 breaststroke and Kyra Kaercher was eighth in the 200 freestyle event.
The Havre High boys also struggled some on Saturday, registering its lowest team finish of the season. The Ponies finished last among nine teams with 35 points. Havre finished behind a fellow Class A school for the first time this season, as Billings Central finished ahead of the Ponies with 54 points. Bozeman won the boys meet with 273 points.
Sophomore DJ Stuker had the best day individually for the HHS boys. Stuker finished ninth in both the 100 backstroke and the 500 freestyle. Matt Hartman finished 10th in the 200 individual medley and senior Jordan Croft finished 11th.
The Ponies will have this week off before they head to the Class A state meet in Hardin Feb. 11-12.
