HELENA - Marjorie Marra, 88, of Helena died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2006, at her home of natural causes.
A prayer vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the Holland & Bonine Funeral Chapel with her funeral service 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Jude Catholic Church with the Rev. Robert D. Grosch officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. A fellowship luncheon will be held at the St. Jude Parish Center immediately after the graveside services.
Marjorie was born Feb. 25, 1917, in Avondale to Enga and Ole Stomsvik. When she was a young girl, the family moved to Glasgow, where she graduated from high school in 1934. She then attended Northern Montana College and graduated in 1938 with her teaching certificate. Marjorie taught schools in Hill County and Fort Peck areas.
In 1939 she married Anthony J. Marra in Havre. She and Anthony returned to Havre and in 1945 took over the operation of Marra Grocery, which had been in the family for many years. Anthony died in 1993. Marjorie moved to Helena in August to be near her family.
She was an active member of the North Central Senior Citizens Center. She enjoyed a good game of pinochle and was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Anthony; four sisters; and one brother.
Survivors include her daughters, Carol Smith of Helena and Mary Jo Larsen of Idaho Falls, Idaho; and seven grandchildren.
Memorials in Marjorie's honor may be made to St. Jude Thaddeus School Trust Fund, the North Central Senior Citizens Center or to a charity of one's choice.
Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home in Havre.
