Several local athletes to play in Treasure State Classic

Several Hi-Line athletes were recently named to the 2006 Treasure State Classic football game.

The annual all-star game is for Class C eight-man football players. The Blue team is made up of players from the Northern and Southern C divisions and the Red team is made up of players from the Western and Eastern C divisions.

Chinook High School heads the list of Hi-Line athletes, with four players from the Sugarbeeters' roster being selected. Quarterback Adam Hayes and running back Chad Beck will play for the Blue team, along with teammates Taylor Tollefson aand Luke Whitney. The foursome helped guide the Beeters to a 9-1 record in their inaugural season in Class C football. The Beeters lost in the Class C quarterfinals to eventual state champion Drummond.

Big Sandy is also well represented, with quarterback Justin Willis and end Ryan Pokorny being named to the Blue team roster. Willis was one of the Northern C's leaders in total offense this past fall.

North Star's Cody Donoven rounds out the list of local ahtletes named to the game.

The 23rd annual Treasure State Classic will be held in Butte on June 3 at 7 p.m.
