Stone Child College will host an informational workshop on cooperative business models Tuesday. The workshop is part of a collaborative project between the Montana Cooperative Development Center and the American Indian Business Leaders organization.
The Strengthening Montana Rural Communities workshop is free and open to the public, and will run from 9 a.m. to noon in Kennewash Hall. A free lunch will be served.
Tuesday's workshop is part of a four-reservation effort, including a stop at Fort Belknap Community College, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Stone Child College business instructor Greg Drummer, who is an adviser for American Indian Business Leaders, said the workshop will give those in attendance a general overview of cooperatives, in which a business is owned and democratically controlled by the people who use its products or services.
“It will be beneficial to any small business owner or those who have dreams of entrepreneurship,” Drummer said Thursday.
He said the workshop will include presentations and a question-and-answer session.
The Montana Cooperative Development Center is a nonprofit corporation that promotes and develops cooperatives. The center is funded with state and federal dollars and provides services with little or no cost to those involved.
American Indian Business Leaders is a Missoula-based nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering business students.
