Ruth was born Sept. 30, 1912, in Hanley Falls, Minn., to Hartvig and Louise (Dons) Christiansen. As a young girl, Ruth moved with her family to Havre and attended Havre Public Schools.
Ruth met Norman Boucher and the couple married July 26, 1930, in Havre. The couple lived in Havre, raising their six children.

She enjoyed her flowers, sewing, crocheting and cooking holiday dinners for everyone to attend. Ruth taught her children and grandchildren how to make her Norwegian lefse. Ruth attended many of the dances that Norman played at and enjoyed listening and dancing to the music. Occasionally, Ruth and Norman would host square dancing parties in their basement. Ruth and Norman did some traveling, mostly to see extended family.
