If the 2006 Montana State Hershey’s

Games finals are any indication of

track-and-field success in the future,

then towns like Havre, Chinook and

other surrounding communities can look

forward to a bright future.

On Saturday at the state Hershey’s

meet in Colstrip, several local youths

won gold medals, and even more local

athletes reached the medal stand.

In the girls 9-10 age group, Havre’s

Peyton Filius captured gold medals in

the 100-meter dash and the 400-meter

race. Filius was blazing fast in the 100,

finishing with a time of 15.42.

In the boys 9-10 age group, Havre’s

Tyrel Pierce won the softball throw and

Chinook’s Jace McMaster captured the

long jump championship. Havre’s Alec

Drew reached the medal stand three

times, placing fourth in the long jump,

50-meter dash and 100-meter dash.

Harlem’s Ashton Neideregger finished

fourth in the girls 11-12 age group

long jump and fourth in the 400-meter

race. In the boys 11-12 age group,

Havre’s Ramsey Drew took fourth place

in the softball throw.
