Girls fastpitch leagues, Babe Ruth baseball ending

With the addition of the sport to Havre High School, girls fastpitch softball is really starting to take off in Havre. But it isn’t just the high school girls who are making noise on the diamond these days. Two weeks ago the Havre 12-andunder girls fastpitch team became the first Havre girls fastpitch team to play in an American Softball Association sanctioned tournament, as the Havre team competed in the annual Great Falls Invitational fastpitch tournament. The team, composed of Michaela Boles, Davee McLeod, Jaclyn Evans, Kristi Hickman, Andrea Nault, Masha Barnekoff, Paighton Gilman, Danielle Hanger, Devyn Carpenter, Breanna leValley, Crystal Robinson, Katie Gilge, Kassalla Holdsclaw, Jordan LaSalle and Dylan Williams took fourth place in the 12-and-under B Division at the Great Falls tournament. The Havre team, which is coached by Paul McLeod and Curt Barnekoff, lost games to Belgrade, Great Falls and two Helena teams in round robin competition on the first day of the tournament. Havre also picked up wins against Helena and Kalispell which allowed the team to play two more games in the tournament on Sunday, leading to the fourth-place finish.

Havre’s girls’ fastpitch league also wrapped up its city league championship in the B division recently. The Railroad Pagers took the city championship with a 17-3 victory over Lions. The Railroad Pagers is composed of Lainey Chagnon, Jaclyn Evans, Sammy Evans, Clarissa Martin, Devyn Carpenter, Ashlin VanVoast, Kathy Brown, Page Sedahl, Davee McLeod, Kristi Hickman, Molly Herron, Jacinta Finneman, Andrea Nault and Sarah Armstrong. City awards went to Jordan LaSalle of Lions and Nault of the Pagers for defensive MVP, and Carpenter of Lions and Dani Hanger of Lions earned offensive MVP honors. The Havre girls fastpitch league will also host a tournament on Saturday at the Sixth Avenue Memorial Field beginning at 10 a.m. The tournament will feature 12-and-under and 14-and-under teams from Havre and Lewistown, as well as a 12-and-under team from Glasgow. Also, the Havre Babe Ruth baseball league recently wrapped up its regular season with Valley Furniture finishing in first place with a 23-5 record. Valley Furniture is composed of Aaron Olson, Paul Jensen, Beau Briese, Adam Briese, Dylan Patterson, Ethan Flathers, Alex Sinclair, Shane Kemmer, Tyler Hendrickson, Kellen Warren, Tyson Gruber, Brandon Brostrom, Courtlan Vukasin and Tyler Hoover. The team is coached by Pat Jensen, Randy Granner and Dan Sinclair
