Leagues have begun at Hi-Line Lanes after a year of delay and disappointment. There will be no scores this week but they will be here next Wednesday. As I stated last week, you still have time to join a league even though they have started. If you need an information, call the lanes at 265-5885 or me at 265-4664. I will be happy to pass it along. Once upon a time, Havre was a bowling town, please show your support to the new owner, Ron Tompt. Let’s see if we can get back to what we used to be. Please be patient as the guys are still waiting for parts to arrive so they can fix the remainder of the machines. This has been a long process as there were many, far too many repairs to be made. Think of it as a car that has never had its oil changed and has a 100,000 miles on it. And that’s putting it mildly. The list of is far too long and everything takes time. The clean up and repairs are being made, but still have a long way to go. Ron plans on doing quite a bit of work in the bar and if I understand right, will not be reopened until it is done. The service bar is being used in the bowling alley, but like everything else, it needs repairs. This will get done and maybe Hi Line Lanes will return to it’s glory days when it was one of the nicest bowling alleys in the state. The Havre Youth Bowling Association, formally known as YABA, held a short meeting last night. Registration has been set up for Sunday, Oct. 29 from 1 to 2 p.m. If you read this, pass the word on to your bowling friends. If you are unable to attend that day but would like to bowl, call Chris at 265-5317, the lanes at 265- 5885, or me at 265-4664. We will try to get the leagues started the following weekend but are unsure at this moment as to the days and times. The price of the USBC Youth cards has risen to $11 but this fee will not be due until the first day of league bowling. Again please be patient things are happening all at once. Some of you are concerned with your youngsters getting averages for state. Please be assured, we will make every attempt to see they get their games in by the required time. The subject of charters arose and some of you think we are not chartered through USBC. We are and will be for the next four or five years when we are required to renew, just like everyone else. This includes the men, women, and youth.
RUDYARD: Terry Grant held the hot hand last week, rolling the high game and series of 251 and 693. Terry also threw in games of 218, 224, 223, 204, 214, 235, and a 653 series. Greg Spinler had a pair of 600s, a 623 and a 606 which included games of 235, 205 and 216. Shawn Rettig had a 572 and Dave Watson a 553. Chris Pappas shot a 227 and Darby Ditmar a 234. Ditmar also had the high four-game series of 803. Denise Frey rolled the high women’s game of 188 and Lila Redding had the series of 482. Dale Dalhke rolled a Dutch 200 (spare, strike, spare, strike, etc). Twila Grant picked a 3-10, Shirley Kline a 3-10 and a 3-6-8-10, Rick Melby a 5-10, Lyle Harrison a 5-10, Lynn Hybner a 3-10, Leota Hansen a 5-10 and Diana Patrick a 4-5-7.
