The Havre High boys and girls swim teams gave local fans and the rest of Class A a little taste of what everyone can expect come next month at the Class A state meet in Hardin.

Both HHS teams dominated the competition at the Class A Invitational on Saturday afternoon at the Montana State University-Northern pool in Havre.

The HHS girls were easily the cream of the crop Saturday, winning the meet with a whopping 167 points. Class A rival Hardin was second and Class C Great Falls Central came in third.

The HHS boys also found the MSU-N pool to their liking, winning the boys meet with 152 points. Billings Central was a distant second with 81 points and Hardin was third with 55 points.

Havre also showed its prowess with individual champions and top finishes in almost every race.

HHS senior Kyra Kaercher got the meet off to a fast start by winning the girls 200 freestyle race. Boys counterpart Scott Vigliotti followed that up with a win in the boys 200 free. Kaercher also captured the grueling 500-yard freestyle race, edging out teammate Morgan Zimmer, while Vigliotti finished just behind teammate Michael Hauser in the boys 50 free. Hauser finished in second place and Vigliotti was a close third.

Kenzie Johnson and Mary-Beth Blankenship got into the action in the girls 200-yard individual medley, with Johnson finishing first and Blankenship second. Although Havre didn't have a winner in the boys race, Jordan Magelssen, Ryan Kinholt and Dan Pizzini all finished in the top four.

Johnson's day was far from over as she came back later to capture the girls 100-yard butterfly event. Zimmer and teammate Jessie Obrecht finished just behind her.

Jordan Croft captured the boys 100 butterfly, with Kinholt finishing second and Matt Hartman third. Blankenship's second-place finish in the 200 IM wasn't her only medal of the day. Later, she captured the 100-yard backstroke. Obrecht also earned a gold medal in the girls 100-yard breaststroke.

The Havre boys also crowned champions in the 400-yard freestyle race and the 100 backstroke. Magelssen added to his medal count with an easy victory in the 100 backstroke, and sophomore DJ Stuker captured the 500 free over teammate Steven Barton by more than two minutes. Stuker also came back to place a solid second in the 100-yard breaststroke.

Havre High will be back in the pool later this week against Great Falls High and CMR in Great Falls.
