Where were you in the early to mid- 1970s? Did you bowl? Whatever happened to those years?

The '70s to early '80s were a time of bowling and fun. Do you remember the days and nights at Hi-Line Lanes when there were two leagues on Sunday, three on Monday, two on Tuesday, three on Wednesday, three on Thursday and two on Friday? The Mixed Doubles ran for seven weekends, beginning the first week of February. We put bowlers on the lanes at 7 a.m. and it was not uncommon for the shifts to be full until 11 p.m. You had to check in at least one half-hour before your shift started or you lost it to the first couple on the waiting list.

When people were not bowling or waiting for their league to begin, you could find them in the 300 Club. It was a good place to sit and watch the bowlers through the glass that divided the two places. There was always good entertainment and good music to dance to.

Whatever happened to those days when Hi-Line Lanes and the 300 Club were the places to be?

I was asked the other day, “What happened?”

I remember when.

Lombecke a 6-7-10.

Dan Hybner had the hot hand for the men, scoring a 225 and a 591. Val Wolf had the high game for the women with a 210, and Lana Herman once again had the high series of 582. After many years of retirement from bowling, Norma Mariani showed her old form with a 202 and 521.
