For the second time this season, the Havre High boys and girls swim teams found the Great Falls High pool to their liking, as both teams came in third at the Great Falls Invitational on Saturday.
The HHS girls finished the meet with 220 points. The host GFH Bison girls won the meet with 324 points and Bozeman was second with 323 points. Harlem finished seventh.
Freshman Kenzie Johnson had a strong outing for the Ponies, finishing fourth in the 100 freestyle and fourth in the 200 free. Johnson also anchored Havre's second-place 200 medley relay team. Johnson teamed with Megan Reinke, Jessica Obrecht and Morgan Zimmer in the 200 medley. She also teamed with Reinke, Zimmer and Donelle Williams on Havre's third-place 200 freestyle relay team.
Obrecht had Havre's lone gold medal on the day. The sophomore finished first in the 100 breaststroke with a winning time of 1:18.52. She also finished sixth in the 200 yard IM , just behind teammate Mary-Beth Blankenship.
Zimmer also came back to place sixth in the grueling 500-yard freestyle race.
On the boys side, Havre also had a strong day, finishing with 213 points. Bozeman captured the meet by one point, edging the CMR Rustlers, 324-323.
Individually the Ponies got a solid day from senior Jordan Croft, who finished fifth in the 200-yard IM, and sixth in the 100 butterfly. Croft finished just behind teammate Ryan Kinholt in the butterfly race.
The Ponies were also tough in the sprints, with Michael Hauser and Scott Vigliotti finishing fourth and fifth in the 100 freestyle, respectively. Hauser also finished fifth in the 50 free and Vigliotti was sixth.
The Ponies will be back in the pool on Saturday when they travel to Missoula for the Missoula Invitational. Great Falls Invitational
