High school boys basketball
teams from across
Montana came to Havre this
weekend to participate in the
Montana State University-
Northern team camp. The
teams competed in the camp
tournament and a number of
other situational tournaments.
Hays-Lodge Pole, which
finished third at the Class C
state tournament in February

championship game

became a budding superstar
late last season with a series
of incredible post-season performances,
won the camp
scoring title after averaging
21 points a game.
Harlem went 0-4 in competition
on Friday but still
found a way to battle back
into the championship game.
After bouncing back from a
tough day on Friday, Harlem
got all the way to the semifinals
where it squared off
against Augusta. Harlem survived
a hard-fought contest
by hitting a 3-point shot late
in the game to win.
HLP qualified for the
championship game by
knocking off Columbia Falls,
the reigning Class A state champions.
Rick Haluszka of Harlem
was named the tournament’s
most valuable player after
recording five double-doubles.
He also won the rebounding
title, as he averaged a little
over 10 rebounds a game.
In addition to the camp
tournament, the teams also
competed in a number of different
situational tournaments
that tested their abilities
in late-game situations.
In the one-and-one tournament,
the home team is
down by one point with 20
seconds to play and a player
at the free-throw line shooting

crowned the champions in the
one-and-one tournament after
defeating North Star in the
championship as well as
Augusta and Harlem in the previous rounds.
The side-out tournament
was won by Havre II after it
knocked off Nashua in the
championship. On its way to
the championship round,
Havre II also defeated
Dodson and Columbia Falls.
In the side-out tournament,
the home team gets the possession
of the basketball
down by one. The team takes
the ball out of bounds from
the side of the court with just
20 seconds to play.
Augusta took home first
place in the three-point tournament,
where the first team
to score three baskets wins,
after beating North Star in
the title game as well as HLP and Dodson.
The final situational tournament
was the out-under
tournament. In this tournament,
the home team is down
by one and taking the ball out
of bounds beneath the basket
with 20 seconds to play.

champion in the out-under
tournament after getting the
best of Harlem in the championship.

the out-under title
