Now that the Fourth of July has come and gone, baseball season in Havre is starting to wind down. But for Babe Ruth players in Havre, things are just starting to get interesting. The Havre 15-year old all star team competed in the Helena Fourth of July Tournament this week, and finished in third place amongst some stiff competition. Havre opened tournament play by being shut out 8-0 by a team from Cheney, Wash., but then rebounded to earn a hard-fought 7-7 tie with the Helena American Freedom team. On the second day of the tournament, Havre defeated the Livingston All-Stars 4-0, and Billings 10-5. On the third day of the tournament, Havre lost a tough game to Gallatin Valley 10-6 which forced them into the consolation game, instead of into the championship tilt. And in that consolation affair, Havre exacted some revenge by defeating Cheney by the score of 10-6. Offensively, Havre got two home runs in the tournament by Paul Jensen, as well as a home run a piece from Kyle Miller and Jack Teske.

The Havre 15-year old all-star team is composed of Adam Briese, Beau Briese, Tyler Olthoff-Hoover, Shane Kemmer, Brett Normandy, Cameron Schilling, as well as Miller, Jensen and Teske. Nolan Holden is also a member of the squad, but did not make the trip to Helena. The team is coached by Bruce Normandy, Lyle Miller, Jon Holden and Bill Schilling. The Havre 13-15 year old all-star team was also in action this past weekend, splitting a pair of games with Lewistown at Legion Park in Havre. The team is composed of Garret Bernard, Brandon Brostrom, Will DeVries, C.J. Evans, Tyson Gruber, Michael Hickman, Justin Jensen, Jake Lillivedt, Joe Malisani, Dan Miller, Dylan Patterson, Mason Sheppard, Alex Sinclair, Nic Sunchild, Roman Surber and Paul Turner. The team is coached by Lunar Evans, Jeff Jensen and Dave Sheppard. Both teams will be in action next week as Havre plays host to the District IV babe Ruth tournament at Legion Park. The tournament will get under way on July 13 and run through July 15.
