The Havre Ice Hawks high school hockey team bid farewell for the season to Havre fans this weekend at the Havre Ice Dome. In its final two home games of the season, Havre gave the hometown fans a lot to cheer about.

On Saturday night the Ice Hawks rode the stellar goal-tending of David Zentmire to a 6-0 shutout of the Bozeman Stingers. Zentmire saved 19 goals, while Havre's offense applied steady pressure on Bozeman goalie Robert Westphal.

Todd Roe scored twice for the Ice Hawks, and Brad Hanson, Mason Sheppard, Mark Larson and Willy Schilling added goals. Tyler Boyce had three assists.

On Sunday afternoon, Havre's offense picked up right where it left off, as did Zentmire. The Havre High sophomore pitched his second straight shutout as the Ice Hawks downed the Stingers 7-0.

Roe scored three times, including two on assists from Boyce. Scott Ladenburg also scored back-to-back goals in the first period, and Sheppard added a goal in the second. Ryan Armstrong closed out the scoring with a goal in the final period.

Roe's five goals keeps him among the league leaders in scoring this season. Erickson is also a top scorer for the Ice Hawks, as is Boyce.

Zentmire saved 27 shots and Havre's offense put 24 shots on Westphal.

The sweep of Bozeman improves Havre's overall record to 9-6-3.

The Ice Hawks will be in Bozeman this weekend for the Bozeman Invitational at the Gallatin Valley Ice Arena.

Havre will be on the road for the last three weeks of the regular season. The state high school hockey tournament is slated for March 2-5 in Miles City.

Last weekend wasn't as successful for the Havre Ice Hawks Bantam team. On Saturday at the Havre Ice Dome, the Ice Hawks lost to the Billings Bulls by a score of 4-1.

The only Havre goal came from Kyle Miller on an assist from Dylan Patterson. Despite the loss, Willie DeVries was solid in the net, stopping 37 shots.

Billings also took care of Havre on Sunday afternoon, this time by a score of 6-2.

Jess Majeres scored first for Havre on an assist from Patterson. Havre's only other goal was scored by Miller on an assist from Nic Sunchild. DeVries had 27 saves in the loss.

The losses brought Havre's regular season to a close. The Ice Hawks will travel to Missoula this weekend for the Montana Bantam State Tournament. Havre will open the tournament with Butte on Friday at noon. The Ice Hawks will face Billings on Saturday at 8 a.m.
