State Superintendent of Public Instruction Linda McCulloch and 15 other public instruction officials will be in Havre on Thursday for a leg of their Yellow School Bus Tour.

After touring Rocky Boy Public Schools on Tuesday and Harlem Public Schools and Hays-Lodge Pole Schools today, the annual bus tour will roll into Havre.

The day will begin with breakfast with the Havre Public Schools' administrative team and school board at 7:30 a.m. After breakfast, the participants will tour Havre schools and visit with students and staff.

“The Yellow School Bus Tour gives my staff and me an opportunity to go out to Montana schools and communities to hear firsthand from Montanans their hopes and concerns for our public schools,” McCulloch said in a press release.

Following the tours, the state Office of Public Instruction will participate in a community reception in the Havre High School library Thursday at 3:45 p.m.

HPS superintendent Kirk Miller said the meeting will be casual and a chance for the state staff to comment of their bus tour and answer questions from the audience.

Some of the OPI staff will remain in Havre after the reception to attend HPS's annual Pride Celebration at the HHS gymnasium, set to start at 7 p.m.

During the celebration, the school board will honor HPS staff with awards for their work and name the classified employee of the year and the teacher of the year. Awards also will be given to employees for their years of service.

Entertainment will be provided by the seventh grade Trebleaires and eight grade Spotlighters.
