Dean A. Hatvick, 73, formerly
of Billings and Havre, died
Friday, May 26, 2006, after a
courageous three-month battle
with cancer.
A service will be held at 2
p.m. Monday, June 19, at Deer
Lodge
Assembly of
God Church
in Deer
Lodge with
Dean’s son,
Pastor Buzz
Hatwigg,
officiating.
Dean was
born on July
9, 1932, in
Helena and
raised in
Outlook. He
married Corrine Stevens in 1951.
They later divorced. In 1997, he
married Joan Brenner.
Throughout his lifetime, Dean
owned and operated many businesses,
including Missouri Valley
Trails in Havre and A-1 Metal
Fabrication Equipment in
Arizona. He was a true entrepreneur
and always stated rather
firmly that he did not believe in
the word can’t. Friends always
knew they could count on Dean
to help or answer any automotive
or equipment questions, and he
would often get calls from complete
strangers who had been
given his name when they needed
an expert.
Dean was a master Mason
and a past worthy patron of
Eastern Star. He was also a
member of the Algeria Shriners.
He devoted 20 years to the Boy
Scouts as a Scoutmaster and also
served as second vice president
of the Montana Boy Scout
Council. Dean helped with Girl
Scout events as well.
Dean served in the Montana
National Guard and was honorably
discharged on Nov. 22, 1952.
Dean was a friend to everyone
he met.
Dean was preceded in death
by his parents, Joe and Martha
Hatvick; and sister Violet
Wangerin.
Survivors include his wife,
Joan; children Keith Hattwig of
Billings, Joe (Patty) Hatvick of
Mesa, Ariz., Capri (Kim)
Helgeson of Laramie, Wyo., and
