Donna was born May 15, 1929,
in Havre to Emmett L. and
Laura (Conne) Purdy. She was
raised and educated in Kremlin
and graduated from Kremlin
High School. She married Edwin
J. Haugen on Oct. 17, 1948, in
Kremlin at the Methodist
Church. The couple farmed north
of Kremlin, where they lived and
raised their four daughters.
Donna was a very generous person
who gave a lot of time and
energy to her church and community.
She was baptized, raised
and married in the Kremlin
Methodist Church. She served as
a lay member of the annual conference
and was the church
pianist for many years. She also
devoted time to the Community
Concert Association, MTPBS and
the Montana Historical Society.
When her children were grown,
Donna attended Northern
Montana College to obtain her
degree in secondary education.
She student taught at KG High
School and enjoyed her experiences
immensely.
Donna was an extensive reader
and had quite a large book collection
on Montana and western
history. Donna was a great
record keeper; she kept track of
everyone from family, friends,
neighbors and community members.
She was always sending a
card to remember people’s special
events in their lives. Donna
would read the newspaper, and
when she was done, no one else
could read it with all of the
markings of events that she
needed to keep track of. Donna
was very active in her children’s,
grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s
lives and activities.
Donna began her family genealogy
and enjoyed tracking the
ancestors on both her and
Edwin’s side of the family.
Donna and Edwin moved to
Havre from the farm in Kremlin
in 2000. Even though they lived in
Havre, Donna would drive to
Kremlin every Sunday to attend
church.
Donna was preceded in death
by her parents, Emmett and
Laura Purdy; and brother,
Robert Purdy.
Survivors include her husband
of 57 years, Edwin Haugen of
Havre; daughters, Pamela
Haugen of Great Falls, Vicki
(Mike) Meek of Shelby, Kristi
(Dusty) Kline of Kremlin and
Julie Haugen of Pleasant Hill,
Calif.; grandchildren, Sara
(Steve) Scheer of Great Falls,
Cole Kline and Cortney Kline of
Kremlin, and Brennan Meek of
Shelby; and one great-granddaughter.
Memorials in Donna’s honor
can be made to the
Intermountain Children’s Home,
500 S. Lamborn, Helena, MT

choice.
Arrangements have been
entrusted to Holland & Bonine
Funeral Home.
