People seeking a flu shots can now make their appointments with the Hill County Health Department. In addition to taking appointments, the Health Department will hold two extended-day sessions where anyone can come in for a shot without an appointment, said Pam Burke, spokeswoman for Bullhook Clinic. Shots will be given on a first-come, first-served basis, so some waiting may be involved. Appointments are recommended if waiting is a problem, she added. Extended service days are Monday, Nov. 20, from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 9, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The county also will give shots at other locations at specific times. Flu shots will be available Friday for any adult at the North Central Senior Citizens Center on a walk-in basis. The Rudyard Senior Center will offer flu shots in the morning of Monday, Nov. 13, from 8 a.m. to noon. Also on Nov. 13, shots will be given at the Gildford Senior Center from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Both are on a walk-in basis and children must be accompanied by a guardian. Thursday, Nov. 16, and Friday, Nov. 17, shots will be given at the Health Fair and Blood Screenings at Montana State University-Northern. These shots are offered through the Wellness Program at the University and an appointment is necessary. Call 265-3761 for an appointment. “There are plenty of doses of vaccine to go around this year,” Burke said, “so there are no restrictions on who receives shots.” Recipients will be screened prior to receiving the shot and will be given information on any possible side effects. For an appointment, call the Hill County Health Department at 265-5481, ext. 266. The Hill County Health Department and the Bullhook Clinic are both located at 302 Fourth Ave. In the Courthouse Annex. The door for the Health Department is on the south side of the building and the Clinic entrance is on the northeast corner. “Good information about flu shots can be found on the Center for Disease Control Web site at www.cdc.gov,” Burke said.
