The Montana Transportation Commission has awarded the U.S. Highway 2 Project bid to Nelcon Inc., a Kalispell based general construction company for $28,807,618.91. Charity Watt Levis, public information officer Montana Department of Transportation, said the project was awarded Monday and that the contract is moving forward to being signed. The contractor is in the process of obtaining necessary permits. Once these are in place there will be a preconstruction meeting likely by mid-April and then the work will begin. “We are going to do everything that we can to minimize the inconveniences, but this is a big project,” Levis said. “The final results will make the project worthwhile. We are hoping to make this as easy as possible for everyone involved.”
