Work zone updates and other information about the construction project on U.S. Highway 2 through Havre are now available on a new Web site that went live Thursday night. The Web address was previously reported in the newspaper, and anyone who tried to visit the site wouldn’t have been able to get online before Thursday. People should try again now. Go to www.us2havre .com to see the planned construction schedule. Visitors can also sign up for automatic e-mail updates of the construction progress week by week. “The us2havre site now deals purely with the construction phases,” said Sam Weyers, project manager for Nelcon Inc., the general contractor for the highway construction. “The actual dates of various segments of construction are likely to vary,” Weyers said. “On a big project like this, there will be unforeseen factors, so we can’t guarantee the timing throughout. However, we will do our best to keep the public informed.” The new site is an update of the previous version, which was built during the planning and design phase of the project by engineering firm Morrison-Maierle. Banik Communications of Great Falls created the latest version of us2havre.com. The site itself will experience on-going construction as information is added and refined. Highway construction will affect U. S.-2 in Havre through November of 2008. Information about the project will also be available in Friday editions of the Havre Daily News and on local radio. Updates are planned at least once a week. Questions and comments can also be sent through the Web site.
