“Bond, James Bond.” The theme for this year’s Taste of Jazz concert is 007 inspired. The concert will provide first class entertainment and features performances by the Havre High School Jazz Bands, Hi-Liters and Belles Voix. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 30, in the Havre High School Gymnasium. Ticket prices are $5 each for general admission, $16 for a family and $4 for senior citizens. The price of the ticket also includes a desert and beverage. Advance tickets for Taste of Jazz are available at Cavaliers, Creative Leisure, JM Donoven Designs in Jewelry, Gary & Leo’s IGA and High Plains Gallery. Tickets will also be available at the door. Sponsored by Friends of Music, an organization that promotes the music and band programs at HHS, Taste of Jazz showcases the talents of the students in the music programs. Students, instructors and parents have worked all year to ensure the performance will be first-class entertainment. Proceeds from the concert will go toward a $1,000 college scholarship to benefit a Havre High student. They also will support summer camp music scholarships, as well as the purchase of new items needed by the music departments. In addition to Taste of Jazz, the Porting the different activities that the students participate in. Ed Lipp of Hingham was the winner of a recent raffle for a 2002 Suzuki 800cc motorcycle that music parent Bob Horne Jr. Donated. Nick Larson of Havre won all-event season passes for four to Montana State University-Northern home games. The raffle was held to help Havre High students Rosa Horne and Kory Bleak cover the cost of their trip to Portland, Ore., last February where they participated in the Northwest Honor Choir. Raffle tickets are still being sold for a one-night stay at the historic Grand Union Hotel in Fort Benton and a limited edition print by artist Brian Morger of the Grand Union Hotel donated by the hotel. In addition, a dinner at the hotel valued at $60 has been donated by the Havre High School Friends of Music, a $25 gift card has been donated by the High Plains Gallery to help frame the print and a $25 gift certificate has been donated by the Petal Pusher. The raffle tickets sell for $5 each or five for $20. The tickets can be purchased at High Plains Gallery or by calling Crystal Anderson at 265-2770. The drawing will be held Tuesday, May 1. The winner need not be present. “The Friends of Music would like to thank all of those who attended District 7 Music Festival that was held April 13 and 14 at the high school,” Anderson said. “We would also like to thank everyone who volunteered to help make the music festival a great success. We couldn’t have done it without you.” Additional thanks by the Friends of Music were extended to everyone who worked to get the facilities set up and ready to go. Anderson also expressed appreciation for the administration of HHS for all the help given to the officers of the group in their first year in office, especially Fawn Thibodeaux and Cindy Lamb. “Mr. Ryan and Mr. Johnke have both done a great job,” Anderson said. “We are proud of the hard work they put into the music department.” Volunteers are needed to help ensure the Taste of Music program is a success. The next Friends of Music monthly meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday in the Havre High School Library. Anyone interested is invited to attend.
