Olga Ostwalt, 95, died Sunday, June 24, 2007 at the Northern Montana Care Center of natural causes.
Her funeral service will be 12:30 p.m. Sunday at the Messiah Lutheran Church with Pastor Michael Dahle officiating. A fellowship luncheon will be held at the church immediately after the service. Her burial will be held in Laurel at a later time. Olga was born Jan. 29, 1912, in Park City to Edward and Dorothea (Winterholler) Kober. She was raised and educated in Park City. She married Henry Ostwalt April 1, 1932, in Laurel at the Laurel First Congregational Church. Together they made their home in Laurel and raised their children. Olga was the ultimate homemaker she raised her family and sewed all of her daughter’s clothing. Olga was very active within her church and sang in the choir, participated in DORCAS Society and also belonged to a quilting club. She made many beautiful quilts for all of her family members and kept a list of them all! She was very proud of her talent in quilt making and enjoyed sharing it with everyone. Olga also enjoyed gardening, she grew beautiful flowers and vegetables, she also canned and was famous for her dill pickles. She was an animal lover who took in and fed many strays. She did extraordinary bead work and made Christmas ornaments out of them and gave them to every grandchild and all of the great grandchildren every year so they would have their own ornaments on their trees. She also did embroidery work. Olga was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary for many years, serving as president on more than one occasion. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Henry Ostwalt in 1990; her daughter, LaRue Freund in 2005; brothers, Emil Kober and Karl Kober; two sisters, Ida Danssaert and Therese Kober; and son-in-law, Howard Miller in 2006. Olga is survived by her daughter, Sally Miller of Havre; sister, Marie Schoessler of Billings; brother, William (Inez) Kober of Three Forks; and son in-law, Dan Freund of Bozeman; seven grandchildren, 22 greatgrandchildren and seven greatgreat- grandchildren. We have been blessed forever by this Ladies’ Lady! Memorial contributions in Olga’s honor may be made to the Northern Montana Care Center Beauty Shop P.O. Box 1231 Havre, MT 59501. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
