Leonard N. Jappe, 81, of Las Vegas died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2007.
A memorial service was held at 5 p.m. Aug. 18, at Palm Mortuary in Las Vegas. He was born to Ernest and Freida Jappe in March 1926, in Great Falls and had resided in Nevada for 37 years. Leonard graduated from Big Sandy High School in 1944, and enlisted in the U.S. Army in October 1944, during World War II. After basic training, he went to the South Pacific, serving with the 38th Infantry on Luzan, P.I. He received an honorable discharge as a sergeant in October 1946. He married Marian B. Stephens June 25, 1948. Leonard made his living working as a construction pipefitter and belonged to the U.A. Plumbers & Pipefitters Union for 47 years. He was also a life member of VFW and a member of the Sun City Community Church. He is preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Lawrence. Leonard is survived by his wife, Marian Jappe; his daughters, Sallie Broadway, and Leonette Alsup; son, Steven Jappe; his sister, Ramona Lohse; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
