Ira “Gene” Dion, 74 of Hamilton died Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2007, at his home in Hamilton.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Daly-Leach Chapel with the Rev. Jack Darragh officiating. A graveside urn placement will take place at Highland Cemetery in Havre on a date to be announced. Visitation will be from 10 a. m. to noon Saturday at the Daly-Leach Chapel in Hamilton. Gene was born March 19, 1933, in Anaconda. He lived in Havre prior to moving to Hamilton. Gene served in the Army National Guard in the 50s. He was a member of the Eagles and the Elks. He worked as a farmer, painter and business manager. His hobbies included fishing, camping and attending sporting events. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, June and Pete Dion; son, “Cactus” Ira Eugene Dion Jr.; and daughter, Robin. He is survived by his life partner, Peggy Buresh of Hamilton; daughters, Tammy Dion of Havre, Susie Dion of California, Candace Dion of California and Theresa Reed of Hamilton; son, Mark Dion of Nevada; sisters, Ann Stewart of Chinook, Judy Iwen of Arizona and Susie Landsvark of Havre; brothers, Pete (Sue) Dion Jr. Of Havre, Fred (Caroline) Dion of Hamilton and Robert “Bob” (Peggy) Dion of Great Falls; three grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. The family suggests memorials to the Marcus Daly Memorial Hospice Endowment Fund, 1200 Westwood Dr., Hamilton, MT 59840.
