Ruby L. Ross, 72; passed away at Northern Montana Hospital in Havre on Nov. 7, 2007, due to natural causes.
Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. in the American Lutheran Church with burial following at Kuper Memorial Cemetery. Ruby was born on Sept. 10, 1935, the fifth child born to Curtis and Mildred (Bloomer) Moxley, and was delivered by midwife Mrs. St. John. Ruby attended school in the area and graduated from Chinook High School in 1954. Ruby married LeRoy Ross on Jan. 23, 1953, in Chinook. She worked as a clerk at the Independent Grocery Store, butcher and clerk at Bud’s IGA, mixologist for 17 years at two prestigious establishments in Chinook and a chef at three fine dining restaurants in Chinook. Throughout her adult life she enjoyed attending various dances in the area at old school houses, barns and various fine dining establishments and taverns. Ruby enjoyed playing pinochle, bingo, cribbage, puzzles, and spoiling various grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a very loving, caring mother who would sacrifice anything for the family’s needs. The last few years while LeRoy was alive she would assist him in the many gardening jobs he took on. The most trying occupation was keeping LeRoy focused in a direction which best served the families needs throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Judy Bilger; and husband LeRoy Ross in 2004. Ruby is survived by her son Randy Ross of Billings, daughters Tara (Jess) Baird of Zurich, Kim Ross and Kelly (Mike) Deck, both of Great Falls; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother Clair Moxley of Chinook; sisters Blanche Warburton of Chinook, Eva Apeland of Quince, Wash., Holly Harris of Tulsa, Okla., and several nieces and nephews. Memorials may be sent to the Chinook Senior Citizens Center. Arrangements are by Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook.
