Evelyn “Evie” Doney, 47, died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2007, in Great Falls after a lengthy illness.
Wake services were Thursday at St. Paul’s Recreation Center in Hays. Funeral Mass was scheduled for 11 a.m. today at St. Paul’s Catholic Church with burial in the family cemetery at Zortman Evie was born on Oct. 21, 1960, to Pana and Matthew Doney. She was raised in Zortman until the family moved to Hays in 1967. Evie attended St. Paul’s Mission Grade School and Hays/Lodge Pole High School. Evie lived in numerous places until recently settling in Harlem. Evie’s favorite past time was watching her favorite team, the Denver Broncos, crocheting, playing cards, playing Bingo, her comic books and most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren who called her “Grandma Heavy.” Evie cared very much for everybody and many times put others before herself. Evie loved riding horses and had a passion for oldtime westerns. She was an avid country music fan although she enjoyed other kinds of music too. She was preceded in death by her father, Matthew Doney, brothers, Matthew Louis, Alan Guy, Lester Thomas, and Thomas Wade “Tommy”; uncles, Alvin, Alfred Jewel and Elmer Nelson, and grandparents from both sides of the family. Survivors include her sons, Alan Guy Doney of Hays; Lester Thomas Doney of Harlem; Duane (Ray-Eve) Doney of Chinook; daughter, Tyea Rose Doney of Harlem; her mother, Darling “Pana” Garrison of Hays; three grandchildren,; sisters, Carletta (John) Benson of Lodge Pole, Cheryl (Dean) Werk of Hays, Charlotte (Ang) Blackcrow of Hays, Lona (Richard) Boushie of Lodge Pole, Maria (Phillip) Doney of Havre; brothers, Mark (Stacey) Doney of Hays, Terry (Bridgette) Doney of Harlem; numerous nieces and nephews. Adams Funeral Home of Malta is in charge of the arrangements.
