Joseph A. “JoJo” Azure, 76, a retired concrete worker, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2007, of natural causes.
Wake services will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m in the Fort Belknap Senior Citizens Center. Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m in the Senior Citizens Center. He will be buried at the Archambault Cemetary, Black Bull Coulee. JoJo was born March 31, 1931, in Zortman to Pat and Zelda Azure. He attended schools in Zortman, Landusky and Pierre, S.D. He was working by the age of 8, and helping his parents wrangle horses by 14. JoJo married Ramona S. Archambault in Butte on May 11, 1952. JoJo enjoyed working with Ray Doney Sr., laying concrete and tending bar and other jobs. His favorite pastime was listening to old country music, playing pool, rodoes, boxing while jigging, and dancing, especially waltzing. His passion was spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Elizabeth, Louise, Mary Jane, Selena and Pear; brothers, Edward, Joe and Walter; son, Timothy Reid Azure. JoJo is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ramona Azure of Zortman; sons, Mark (Elizabeth) Azure of Fort Lewis, Wash. And Brent (Jeannie) Azure of Havre; daughters, Monica (Robert) Azure of Rocky Boy, Sandi Azure of Fort Belknap, Dawn (Billy) St. Marks of Box Elder, Vickie (Bruce) Ekblad of Rocky Boy and Destinie (Ray) Doney of Dodson; sisters Angel Shawl of Fort Belknap, Agnes Ackerman of Idaho and Christine Clary of California; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Arrangements are by Adams Funeral Home of Malta.
