For the second time this season, the Havre High softball team couldn’t hold down a potent Glasgow offense. On Monday afternoon in Glasgow, the Blue Ponies dropped a nonconference road game to the Scotties, 18-5. It was the second time this year that HHS has surrendered 18 runs to Glasgow. The Scotties beat the Ponies in the season-opening game for both teams back on March 30 in Havre. Monday’s game saw Glasgow strike early, scoring two runs in the first inning. But the real damage came in the third inning as the Scotties scored eight runs to take an 8-0 lead. The Scotties followed that inning up by tacking on eight more runs in the fourth inning to lead 18-0. Glasgow’s Kelsie Archambeault was perfect on the mound for four innings as Glasgow shut out Havre High’s offense until the fifth inning when the Ponies finally got on the board with a pair of runs. Archambeault also starred at the plate for the Scotties, going 2-for-3 with a single and a double. In all, Glasgow out-hit the Ponies 12-6, despite a solid early start from HHS junior Steph Stremcha. Kimberly Falcon went 3-for-3 at the plate for Glasgow as well. Havre got two hits from Jessica Obrecht and one hit each from Stacey Sheppard, Katie McLeod (double) and Stremcha. Defensively, both teams committed a pair of errors. Stremcha was credited with her second loss of the season while Archambeault picked up her third victory in as many outings. The game was the first for HHS since the Ponies beat Browning on March 31 in Browning. HHS will return to the Sixth Avenue Memorial Field on Friday for a Northwestern A doubleheader against the Libby Loggers. Game times Friday are slated for 4 and 6p. m. The Ponies next six games will all be conference affairs.
