S. Pauline (Polly) Widdekind, 82, died Tuesday, June 5, 2007, at Northern Montana Care Center of natural causes.
Cremation has taken place and her memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at First Lutheran Church with Pastors Brad Ulgenes and Michael O’Hearn officiating. A fellowship luncheon will be held at the church immediately following the service. Pauline was born on a farm in Wisconsin on July 16, 1924, the youngest of 10 children born to Frank and Susanna (Hass) Bartsch. She was raised on the family farm and attended the nearby country school. She graduated from Cameron High School and then attended the Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in Eau Claire, Wis., graduating in 1945 with her registered nursing diploma. Pauline moved to Havre to work at the Deaconess Hospital. She worked there for several years, before going to work at the Havre Clinic, where she worked for 33 years retiring in 1991. She met Al Widdekind in Havre and the couple married July 23, 1950. Polly enjoyed reading, gardening, latch hook and working as a volunteer. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and taught Sunday school for several years, sang in the church choir and also served on the Lay Board. She was involved in many of her children’s activities. Polly was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Al Widdekind in 1997; three brothers; and four sisters. Survivors include her children, Dave (Sue) Widdekind of Havre, Clint (Loretta) Widdekind of Havre and Clay (Hollie) Widdekind of Lakeside; sisters, Gladys Tubbs of Cameron, Wis., and Dorothy Bartsch of La Crosse, Wis.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions in Pauline’s honor may be made to First Lutheran Church or to the Boys & Girls Club of The Hi-Line. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
