The Havre Northstars will take to the road this weekend for a pair of important Northern District doubleheaders. The Northstars (26-11) will be in Fort MacLeod today for a doubleheader that starts at 3 p.m. Havre is currently two games behind Vauxhall for first place in the North Division of the Northern District, but with a sweep this weekend, the Northstars should lock up a berth in the district tournament next month in Great Falls. On Saturday, the Northstars will finish their road trip with a visit to Medicine Hat to face the Knights, who have struggled in district play this season. The Northstars are getting excellent pitching this season, especially this month Havre starters have thrown complete-game wins in nine of their last 15 starts, and starter Sean Peterson is coming off a gem of a start against the Great Falls Stallions on Wednesday in Havre. The Northstars will return home for a doubleheader with Fort MacLeod on Monday. Meanwhile, the Havre Comets are taking a break from district play with a trip to Bozeman for the annual Howard Rein Tournament. The Comets played their first game on Thursday, but scores were not available at press time. The Comets will play at least four games in Bozeman this weekend, with the possibility of a fifth game, depending on how they do in round-robin play. The Comets are fighting for their district tournament lives, and improved their standing in the South Division of the Northern District with a sweep of Tri-County on Tuesday. The Comets will return to district play on Tuesday when they host Fort MacLeod at Legion Field in Havre.
