While the heat continues to be the story on the Hi-Line, golf in the area is also heating up. The new Prairie Farms Golf Course in Havre is playing host to both men’s and women’s golf league this season, and the race for the playoffs is on. In Tuesday night men’s league, Bing N Bob’s is in first place with 87.5 points. Hi-Way Bar is second with 83 points, followed by Farnik Bin Sales, Midtown, Golden Spike, U.S. Bank and the Shanty Bar. Wells Fargo sits atop the Wednesday night standings with 80.5 points, but just10. 5 points separates the top 12 teams. Taco Johns is in second place, followed by Klabzuba, BPCU, Lantek, D.A. Davidson, Mariani Insurance and Independence Bank. Meanwhile, in women’s league action, last week saw Becky Wimmer earn low-gross honors and Ginger Zanto take home low net. High-team honors went to Schubert with 24 points, and the team is composed of Cindy Schubert, Susie LaSalle, Mary Ann McLean and Judi Adams. All golf leagues had this week off, but will resume action starting on Tuesday. This month will also feature two tournaments at Prairie Farms, starting with the Rotary Club tourney on Sunday, July 15. The Rotary Club tournament is a two-person 18-hole tourney with a Modified Stableford scoring system. Interested teams can sign up at the Pro Shop at Prairie Farms, and they must register by July 13. On July 21, the course will host the 4th Annual Northern Lights Golf Tournament. The cost is $200 for each four-person team. The tourney will be a scramble format. Price includes lunch and a sleeve of golf balls. There will be a Calcutta on Saturday morning at 8:30a. m. and golfing will begin at 10 a.m. All proceeds go to scholarships and weight room improvements at the Armory Center. Refreshments will be available on the course. Tee prizes will be awarded, as well as dozens of other giveaway prizes.
