MARY KATHLEEN THOMPSON MATULKA obituary ARLINGTON, Va.,

Mary Kathleen Thompson (Kay) Matulka, 69, died at home Wednesday, August 1. 2007.

A rosary and vigil service is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday at the St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Chinook. The Committal rite is scheduled for 10:30 a. m. Saturday at the Kuper Memorial Cemetery. Kay was born in Havre to Harold Thompson and Anne (Lamey) Thompson. She held a Bachelors of Arts in education from the University of Montana and Master of Education from George Mason University in agency and school counseling and was a Virginia certified mediator. She was the initiator of the counseling office at the Navy Clinic, American Embassy, London, a high school guidance counselor, an original member of the Northern Virginia Mediation Service, a conflict resolution mediator in Northern Virginia Courts and the co-founder of Community Mediation Service, Inc., a non-profit service for youth at risk. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Robert; their son, Michael (Edie)Matulka of Seattle, Wash.; their daughter, Meghan (Lori Nicely) Matulka of Rockville, Md.; and two grandchildren. Services are under the care of Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook.
