CHRISTOPHER JOHN SCHAFER obituary

Christopher Schafer, 25, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2007, from injuries sustained in an airplane crash in Washington State.

Services will be held at 1 p. m. Monday at St. Fancis Xavier Church located at 420 W. Pine St. in Missoula. Chris was born Dec. 1, 1981, in Ridgecrest, Calif., to Michael and Margie Schafer. He spent his childhood in California and graduated high school from Burroughs High in 2000. Chris moved to Missoula in 2002 to attend the University of Montana. He majored in business finance and was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. Chris graduated from the University of Montana in December 2004. While attending the university, Chris met the love of his life, Elizabeth Arneson, and on July 28, 2007, they were married. Chris and Elizabeth lived in Havre where he worked as a petroleum landman for a gas and oil leasing business. Chris was passionate about his work, and he was eager to start his own business involving hydrogen technology. He loved to discuss politics and he enjoyed reading about current events. Chris also loved the outdoors. His hobbies included camping, fishing, hunting, snowboarding and golf. He adored their dog, Maddie, and cat, Ella. Friends and family meant the world to Chris. Most of all, he cherished his wife, Elizabeth. She was truly his soul mate. Chris will be greatly missed, but always remembered for his kind heart, loving spirit, and witty sense of humor. Chris is preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Margaret Eisenhour; and grandmother, Mary Schafer. Chris is survived by his wife of six weeks, Elizabeth Schafer; his parents; Michael and Margie Schafer; brother, James (Cori) Schafer; and sister, Sarah Schafer.
