Former Havre resident Glenn Hockett, 79, died peacefully Thursday, Sept. 13, 2007, at a hospital in Missoula of natural causes.
His memorial service will be Oct. 5 at 2 p. m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Great Falls. Glenn was born to Raymond and Dorothy (Dora Chapdelaine) Hockett on September 13, 1928 in Sherwood, N.D. His family moved to the Havre area in 1929 and had a successful truck garden and dairy delivery service. When Glenn was old enough, he and his sisters Elaine and Mary and his brother Ted delivered milk in the Havre area to help the family business. Glenn entered St. Jude’s Catholic School in 1934 and conti.nued his formal education through his sophomore year until he entered the U. S Army and served his country on the front line in Korea. Glenn married Shirley Price on Feb. 4, 1983 in Las Vegas, Nev. He had a lifelong interest in mechanics that began when he was a toddler. When someone came to visit, it was expected to check under the vehicle to be sure that little Glenn was not under the car working. Because Glenn enjoyed working with his hands, one of his favorite memories was when he and his brother-in-law Gregory Henderson, went to Kalispell to pick up lumber to build Hockett’s Acres and Ted’s Restaurant and the In and Out”. Glenn was an avid Winchester collector, was on the NRA Board of Directors, and was a Winchester Group Member. Glenn greatly enjoyed his visits to Seattle to visit his sister Dorothy, and his trips to gun shows across the country with his sister Marjorie. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Shirley, sisters Elaine, Mary and Dorothy, and a brother Ted. Survivors include his sister, Marjorie; stepchildren Connie (Wayne) Ford, Donna (Bob) McCold, Sandy (Donald) Lankford, Wendy (Arlen) Pierce; eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
