For many local Hi-Line football teams, the 2007 season came to an Wednesday. I n C h i n o o k , t h e C h i n o o k Sugarbeeters ended their season on a positive note, by beating the Simms Tigers 26-6 in Northern C action. Chinook did most of its damage against the Tigers’ defense on the ground on Wednesday night. Greg Qualls ran for 162 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Beeters to victory. Qualls scored on a 50-yard TD run and he capped off the victory late with a 67-yard run. The Beeters also got 55-yard run from Tyler Molyneaux which put them ahead 6-0 in the second quarter. Chinook went 0-8 in 2006, but finished this season with two straight wins, and wound up the year 3-5 overall. Things also ended positively in the regular season for the Chester/J-I Hawks. C/J-I went to Belt Wednesday afternoon and picked up a 26-16 comefrom- behind win. The Hawks trailed the Huskies 16-0 in the second quarter, but then proceeded to score 16 unanswered points. C/J-I started the run by closing the first half on a 46-yard touchdown pass form Tyler Han to Callen McKinley to close the gap to 16-8. Han started the third quarter off by scoring on a 3-yard run, and then the Hawks went ahead on an 8-yard pass from Han to Shay Richter. The win means that the Hawks finish the regular season with a solid 6-2 overall record. The Big Sandy Pioneers, who have had a difficult season by their standards, also finished on a high note Wednesday. The Pioneers got a strong push from Hays-Lodge Pole, but came out on top 38-29. Big Sandy finished the season 3-5 while HLP went 1-7 on the year. Meanwhile, in Centerville on Wednesday afternoon, the defending Class C state champion Centerville Miners ended the regular season with a perfect record after taking care of Rocky Boy 96-18. The Miners scored 48 first-quarter points en route to the easy victory over the 0-8 Stars. Rocky Boy did get three TD passes from Cliff Singer, all going to wide receiver Mike Sangrey. Singer and Sangrey hooked up for scores on passes of 25, 35 and 15 yards. Teams that qualified for the Class C playoffs will get under way next Saturday across the state.
