Sam Hofer, 81; died peacefully of natural causes Saturday, November 10, 2007 with his family by his side at his residence.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Turner Colony with burial following at the Turner Colony Cemetery. Wake services will begin today at 8 p.m. at the Turner Colony. Arrangements are by Edwards Sam was born March 2, 1926 at Huron, S.D. to George and Rebecca Hofer. He attended school there and as a teenager moved to Grass Range. He married Sarah Hofer of Pincher Creek, Alberta on Feb. 19, 1950. They moved to Turner in 1957. He was a farmer and carpenter all his life. Sam enjoyed doing mechanical and electrical work. He is preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife; grandchild Sara Annie Hofer; brothers George, the Rev. John, Jake, Paul, Pete and Darius Hofer; sisters Susan Walter, Mary Hofer; nephews the Rev. Peter, Fred, Joey, Mike Hofer, and William Walter. He is survived by daughters Rosa and Annie Hofer of Turner, Rachel (Leonard) Gross of Spokane, Wash., Sara (Sammy) Hofer, Margaret (Joey) Hofer, both of Stanford; 10 grandchildren; sisters Dora (Mike) Gross of Pincher Creek, Alberta, Annie (Peter) Hofer of Swift Current, Sask., Becky (Darius) Walter of Lamona, Wash., Matilda (Johnny) Hofer of Malta; numerous nieces and nephews; three sister-in-laws and brother-in-law Rev. Darius Gross of Pincher Creek, Alberta. Arrangements are by Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook.
