Earl Lawrence Standing Rock, 29, died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007 at the Northern Montana Hospital in Havre of natural causes. Wake began Saturday at the Rocky Boy Lutheran Church and ran through Sunday. Funeral services will be at 10a. m. today at the church with burial to follow at the Standing Rock Family Cemetery.
Earl was born on June 25, 1978, in Havre the son of Earl Arkinson and Harriett Standing Rock. Earl attended school at Rocky Boy and graduated from the Rocky Boy High School in 1996. He participated in Special Olympics and won many medals including first place. His hobbies were powwows, singing, round dances, basketball, Special Olympics, sundances, NAC, visiting with family and his many friends and natural powwow singers he met on the powwow trail. Precede him in death are his maternal grandfather, Joe Standing Rock; maternal grandmother, Florence Denny Standing Rock; paternal grandfather, Tom Arkinson; paternal grandmother, Maggie Coffee Arkinson; one sister, Lacy Standing Rock. Surviving him are his mother, Harriett Standing Rock; his father, Earl Arkinson; brothers, William Adrian, Bernard, Morgan- (all Standing Rocks); Cornelius, Randon; sisters, Antoinette, Josephine, Violet; Florence Standing Rock all of Rocky Boy; along with numerous nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles other extended family members and many friends. Services are under the care of Holland & Bonine Funeral Home of Havre.
