Going head-to-head with the best competition in the state was the plan for both the Havre High boys and girls swim teams this weekend at the Great Falls swimming meet. And the Blue Ponies found mixed results in both dual and individual competition. The Havre High girls finished the meet with a solid 5-4 dual record. The record was good enough for a tie for fourth place. Bozeman finished a perfect 9-0 on the day and GFH and CMR went 8-1 and 7-2, respectively. Individually, the Ponies best finish came from Jessica Obrecht in the 100 breaststroke where she finished second overall. Johnson came in with a time of 1:14.89, just behind CMR’s Abby Allen. Morgan Zimmer and Kenzie Johnson also had a good meet for HHS. Zimmer finished fourth in the lengthy 500-yard freestyle race and sixth in the 100 butterfly. Johnson posted fifth-place finishes in the 200 I'm and 100 butterfly. Jamaica Kaercher finished just behind Zimmer in the 500 free, and Donelle Williams came in sixth in the 50 free. Meanwhile, the Havre High boys finished the dual meet with a 4-5 record on Saturday at the Bison Pool. The Ponies finished behind Bozeman (9-0), CMR (8-1) , GFH (7-2), Helena High (6-3) and Helena Capital (5-4). Both HHS teams had the highest finish of any non-Class AA school. Steven Barton had the best individual performance for HHS, finishing fourth in the 50 freestyle race. Jordan Magelssen had a strong showing in the 100 butterfly, finishing fifth, and D.J. Stuker earned a sixth-place finish in the 200 I'm. The Blue Ponies also finished well in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Havre High’s “A” team came in with a secondplace finish in the race. Both HHS swim teams will be back in the pool on Saturday in Missoula.
