HHS music department, students, parents hard at work

The busy spring season for the Havre High School Music Department has begun. The HHS band concert is scheduled for March 27 at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium. The choir concert will be March 29 at 7:30 p. m. The HHS Music Department is still selling raffle tickets for a 2002 Suzuki 800cc motorcycle. The motorcycle is on display at North Star Dodge. The raffle is to help Havre High students Rosa Horne and Kory Bleak cover the cost of their trip to Portland, Ore., last February to particpate in the Northwest Honor Choir. Raffle tickets cost $5 each or five for $20 and can be purchasd at Pizza Pro, Creative Leisure, North Star Dodge or by calling Pat Ryan at HHS. The drawing will be held Marh 29 at the choir concert. The Havre High School Friends of Music officers are preparing for the District 7 Music Festival that will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 13 and 14 at the high school. Friends of Music is an organization that promotes the music and band programs at Havre High School. Volunteers are needed to help ensure the program is a success. If any parent or business is interested in placing an ad in the District 7 Music Festival program to show support for a student or school that is participating, contact Bragg. The deadline for ad submission is March 24. The Friends of Music is selling raffle tickets to help raise money to cover expenses for the District 7 Music Festival. In addition, money raised helps to fund the choir, band and color guard for future trips, uniforms, flags and other equipment they may need. The raffle winner will receive a onenight stay at the historic Grand Union Hotel in Fort Benton and a limited edition print by artist Brian Morger of the Grand Union Hotel donated by the hotel. In addition, a dinner at the hotel valued at $60 has been donated by the Havre High School Friends of Music, a $25 gift card has been donated by the High Plains Gallery to help frame the print and a $25 gift certificate has been donated by the Petal Pusher. The raffle tickets sell for $5 each or five for $20. The tickets can be purchased at High Plains Gallery or by calling Anderson. The drawing will be held May 1. The winner need not be present. Friends of Music also sponsors Taste of Jazz, scheduled for April 30. Proceeds from the concert go toward a college scholarship to benefit a Havre High student. They also support summer camp music scholarships, as well as the purchase of new items needed by the music departments. HHS music coupon books also are available at the High Plains Gallery or by calling Ryan or David Johnke. The books sell for $20 and the coupons are good through Sept. 1.
