Frank Brown Kirkaldie, 79, of Fort Belknap died of natural causes Thursday, April 18, 2007, at the Big Sky Hospice in Billings.
Visitation will be held at Red Whip Community Center at Fort Belknap from noon to 9 p.m. Thursday. His funeral service will be held at Red Whip Community Center at 11:30 a.m. Friday with viewing prior to service. Interment will be at the Harlem Cemetery, with full military honors. A pot luck reception will be held at the Red Whip Center following the interment at the Harlem Cemetery. Frank was born May 20, 1927, at the family home in the Little Rocky Mountains in Big Warm to Frank Jr. And Edna (Brown) Kirkaldie. Frank was raised on the family ranch in Big Warm and attended grade school at the Kirkaldie School there. The family later moved into Fort Belknap, so that he could attend high school in Harlem. Frank was inducted into the Army and served his country for two years. He was last stationed as a platoon sergeant with Company I, 63rd Infantry, in Kunsan, Korea. He received an honorable discharge in 1947, with medals for Victory, Army of Occupation (Japan), and Asiatic Pacific Service. On June 1, 1951, he married Lorene Amaryliss Tanner, in Whitefish. The couple had one daughter and one son. After the service, Frank went on to pursue a career as a business owner until his health and the passing of his wife, required him to retire and move to Billings to live with his daughter and her husband in 1999. Frank was a devoted husband, father, and member of the community. He was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints, and faithfully served the Lord. Frank was preceded in death by his mother, father and wife. Survivors include his daughter, Tina (Wayne) Jones, Billings; son, Frank (Raquel) Kirkaldie, Sacramento, Calif..; brothers, Benjamin Kirkaldie of Big Warm, Louis (Jean) Kirkaldie of Harrisburg, Pa., and John (Norma) Kirkaldie of Laramie, Wyo.; sister, Frances Horn of Fort Belknap; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three brothers; and one sister. Services under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home in Chinook.
