She graduated as valedictorian from Doyon High School in 1936 and was then employed as a telephone operator in Devils Lake, North Dakota until she married Harold Holmquist on Feb. 16, 1941. To this union three children were born. They lived in Devils Lake, Valley City, and Minot, N. D., and she returned to Devils Lake to spend the war years while Harold was in the U. S. Navy. After his discharge in 1945 they returned to Minot where they made their home until moving to Montana in 1947. After living in both Helena and Black Eagle, they settled in Havre in the early 1950s where Alice helped Harold run a family electrical contracting and appliance business. They sold the business and returned to Helena in 1963. Alice initially worked for the Montana Power Company there before a long tenure with the Montana AAA. She and Harold both retired in 1982 and enjoyed many years of fishing, square dancing, and spending time with their children, grandchildren, and friends. Harold and Alice moved to Chinook in 1994 where they spent the remainder of their years. During their Montana residence both Alice and Harold were members of First Lutheran and Messiah Lutheran churches in Havre, Our Redeemer’s in Helena and finally American Lutheran in Chinook. Alice especially enjoyed her involvement with Degree of Honor and all the ladies of that fraternal organization. Alice will be remembered for her gentle spirit and her kind, caring and loving nature. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Alice and Harold were married for 65 years before he preceded her in death in Oct. 2006. She had also lost all of her brothers and sisters. Alice had two half sisters, Agnes Aronson who died at 7 months and Alma Aronson who died in June of 1973 in Minot. After losing her first husband, Alice’s mother married Erick Resvick in 1908. From this union, six children were born Alice, Elof, Hilma, Marion, Jean and Milton. Alice is survived by her three children, Judith Ann (Paul) Eggen of Jacksonville, Fla., Carol Lynn DePriest of Chinook and Donald Duane (Janis) Holmquist of Helena; two sisters- in-laws, Ethel Resvick in Rhinelander, Wisc., and Gladys Resvick in Auburn, Wash.; six grandchildren, one great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
