Janet Rudge, 86, a Havre homemaker, died Saturday, June 2, 2007, at Sweet Memorial Nursing Home in Chinook of natural causes.
She will be buried next to her husband in the Veteran’s Cemetery at Fort Harrison. Janet was born June 16, 1920, in Box Elder to Dr. John E. and Genevieve (Nolan) McKenzie. Her father was a doctor in Box Elder. When she was a young girl, her family moved to Big Sandy. She was raised in the Box Elder and Big Sandy areas. Her father died when she was 8 years old and she was raised primarily by her mother. She lived with her mother for many years. Janet moved to Great Falls and married Harry Rudge in the 1950s. The couple made their home in Great Falls and were married for 40 years. Harry died Nov. 29, 1995, and then Janet moved to Havre to be closer to her extended family. Janet was an animal lover. She enjoyed her cats, reading and watching television. She was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and attended the local meetings regularly. She lived in her own home in Havre until 2003, when she fell and broke her hip and needed more care. In 2003, she moved to the Sweet Memorial Nursing Home. Janet was preceded in death by her parents and one sibling at a young age. Survivors include her cousins, Sandy Cartwright of Havre, Joanne Goebel of Butte, Steve Formanack of Havre and Margaret Goodian of Helena. Memorial contributions in Janet’s honor may be made to The Disabled American Veterans. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
