Violet June Erickson, 72, resident of Havre, died Thursday, June 7, 2007, at her home of natural causes.
Her funeral service will be held at 2 p. m. today at the St. Paul Lutheran Church with Pastor Mark Schultz officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Cemetery. A fellowship luncheon will be held at the church immediately after the graveside services. Violet was born June 29, 1934, in Toston, Mont. To Arthur and Minnie (Kinzel) Shaffer. She moved with her family when she was a young girl to Paradise Valley. She attended Lower Paradise School and Harlem High School. She married Harvey Lawrence Erickson December 18, 1955, in Havre. Violet worked as a daycare provider, upholstery worker and telephone operator. Her greatest joy was to be surrounded by family. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Violet enjoyed crocheting, sewing and embroidery. She was an avid reader and loved her garden and trees. Raised on the banks of the Milk River, Violet loved the sight of a solitary cottonwood tree standing tall and proud, its feet washed by green prairie surf. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harvey in 1995, and her sister, Rose Winters. Violet is survived by her daughter, Rebecca (Ron) Haley of Havre; three sons, Fred Erickson of Havre, Steve (Maryalice) Erickson of Albuquerque, N.M. and Jim (Corinne) Erickson of Yorba Linda, Calif.; two sisters, Jane Zander of Missoula and Viola Loftus of Havre, and five grandchildren. Memorial contributions in Violet’s honor may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
