With his dying breaths, a 14-year-old boy who tried to stop his father from attacking his pregnant mother with a military combat knife begged a 911 operator for help after being stabbed in the neck. "My dad stabbed me in my neck. My dad stabbed me in my neck," Tyran Vesperas-Saniatan sobbed at the start of his dramatic 911 call, which was released by Hawaii County police Thursday. "Please, come with police, call the police." The boy was found dead by the time police arrived at his home last Monday. His father, 38-year-old Tyrone Vesperas, admitted to police that he stabbed his son and his nearly full-term wife in the abdomen with a military-issued combat knife during a domestic dispute last Monday. Cheryl-Lyn Vesperas, 34, survived, but her unborn child did not. "Where is your dad now?" The emergency operator asked Tyran. "I don't know, just please come," Tyran said in his final words. The couple had been going through a divorce and were living apart, police said. Tyran attempted to hold his father back so his mother could escape, police said. During the struggle, the teenager was stabbed in the left side of his neck, cutting his jugular vein. "Tyran ... Tyran," the operator said before silence fell. "I don't hear him breathing anymore." Vesperas was charged Wednesday with second-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, attempted seconddegree murder and possession of a deadly weapon. On the 911 recording, the phone connection is broken as the dispatcher attempts to call back several times and gets a busy signal. Eventually, the phone rang and Tyrone Vesperas answered. "Where's your son?" The operator asked. "He's on the floor lying down," the father replied in a calm voice. "I don't think he's breathing." Vesperas is a full-time technician and staff sergeant for the Hawaii Army National Guard. He served with the 29th Brigade Combat Team in Iraq from February 2005 to January 2006. He is being held without bail pending his arraignment next week.
