ANN PAULINE HANDL obituary

Ann Pauline Handl, 94, died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2007, at the Northern Montana Care Center of natural causes.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. today at the Big Sandy Cemetery with Tim Maroney officiating. A fellowship luncheon will follow at the Big Sandy Historical Museum. Ann was born July 28, 1913, in Butte to Paul and Mary Margaret (Gasvoda) Subic. She was raised and educated in Stockett. She worked at the Sacred Heart Hospital in Great Falls. She met Jerry while visiting her Uncle Frank Gasvoda and his wife, Mary (Jerry’s sister). Ann and Jerry married on Nov. 12, 1938, in Great Falls. They made their home on their farm southeast of Big Sandy where they raised their eight children. She continued to reside on the family farm until she moved to the care center in January 2005. Ann enjoyed her life on the farm and spending time with her family and friends. Ann and Jerry loved attending community gatherings, especially country dances. She enjoyed gardening, baking, embroidery and reading. She was famous for her dill pickles and potica. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Paul Subic; sisters, Elsie Mayernik, Marge Levandowski and Rose Davis; her husband, Jerry in 2005; and two infant greatgrandchildren. Ann is survived by her children, Eugene (Susie) Handl of Bozeman, William Handl of Big Sandy, Kenneth (Carol) Handl of Livingston, Jason Handl of Great Falls, Katherine (Jim) Headlee of Missoula and Marilyn Handl, Betty (Ken) Maxwell and Marjory (Barney) Leeds, all of Havre; brother-inlaw, Charles Handl of Great Falls; sister, Katherine Knaup of Stockett; 16 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; one greatgreat- grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions in Ann’s honor may be made to the Big Sandy Historical Museum; Big Sandy Medical Services Foundation P.O.
