All of the boxing fans in the Hi- Line area better get ready for live boxing action, because Club Boxing presented by Warrior Horse Boxing is returning to Hi-Line this weekend. The action will take place at the Northern Winz Casino on Saturday night. The first bout will get underway at approximately 5 p.m. The Main Event of the night will pit Channing Demontiney of Missoula against Leo Bercier, who hails from Great Falls. Both fighters are expected to weigh in at around 200 pounds, putting them in the heavyweight division for the fight. “It should be a great fight,” said Larry Boe, head of the Havre Boxing club. “It has been a while since the club boxing has been in Havre and right now we are trying to kind of revive boxing in Havre, so we hope people will turn out and watch, what should be some exciting boxing.” The only marquee match on the card that is still to be decided will feature Steven Strike of Havre, who is 3-0 in club boxing events, going headto- head with Moon Windy Boy of Box Elder, who is 4-1 in club boxing matches. The two fighters are expected to weight in at around 130 pounds, designating them in the lightweight class for their bout on Saturday night. “These are professional fighters,” Boe said. “They are trying to work their way up the ranks of boxing and that starts by fighting in events like these and winning matches. “I think that Steven is a very exciting fighter and I think that he and Moon are going to put on a very exciting bout. There are a lot of young fighters that are just looking for a chance to show what they can do, I train a bunch of fighters here in Havre, so I think the dedication is there, they just need the opportunity to show what they can do in the ring.” Boe is the head of the Havre Boxing Club, which is an organization that trains a number of young amateur boxers, and he hopes that the club boxing event will be a step in the right direction for the revival of boxing in Havre and across the state of Montana. “I think the biggest problem for young fighters is that there isn’t quite as much interest as there used to be in the sport,” Boe said. “And there are also not as many good coaches of the sport out there anymore either. There are a lot of kids interested in the sport, but there aren’t a lot of people who are willing to coach them and show them how to do it.” Besides the two main event matches, the event will also feature seven under card bouts. At press time, the participants in those matches have yet to be determined. There will be an open weigh in on Saturday morning at the Northern Winz Casino to determine who will fill out the final seven matches on the card. The bouts are open to anyone and the final seven bouts will be decided following the official weigh in on Saturday morning. “We get some people out that have no boxing experience,” Boe said. “But a majority of the people have boxing experience and are just looking for a chance to show what they can do in the ring. I am really looking forward to it, because I think its going to be an exciting night of boxing.” The club boxing event sponsored by Warrior Horse Boxing will begin at the Northern Winz Casino at 5 p.m. on Saturday night.
