TWILA ELAINE (BERGH) CLAWSON obituary MISSOULA

Twila Elaine (Bergh) Clawson, 80, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007, in Missoula at the home of her daughter.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be Saturday at 2 p. m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Havre. Twila was born Nov. 16, 1926, in Sheyenne, N. D. to Elmer and Mae (Berglund) Bergh. She moved with her family to Harlem at an early age and graduated from Harlem High School in 1944. At age 17, Twila taught school in Savoy because of the teacher shortage during World War II. She went to college at the University of Montana and majored in journalism. It was there that she met her husband Keith Clawson. They were married on March 20, 1947, in Missoula. Twila taught in Hall while Keith finished school. They lived in St. Ignatius, Deer Lodge and Great Falls before settling in Havre in 1957. Twila finished her teaching degree at Northern Montana College and graduated in 1964. The major part of her professional career was teaching English at Havre High School beginning in 1966 and retiring in 1984. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Eastern Star and PEO chapter AZ. After retirement she was active playing bridge, attending PEO and watching her eight grandchildren who were perfect in every way! Twila was an avid sports fan of the Blue Ponies, the Northern Lights, the Grizzlies and most recently the Sentinel Spartans. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother, Donald; and her husband, Keith, in 1983. She is survived by her son, Steve (Nancy) Clawson of Kalispell; her daughters, Kayce (Steve) Grimsrud of Missoula and Nan (Kirk) Miller of Bozeman; Kirk’s mom, Sally Miller of Havre; sister, Phyllis (Don) Rasmussen of Harlem; and sister-in-law, Verda Clawson of Deer Lodge; and eight grandchildren.
