“A male bowler who is married is a curious creature. He finalizes tourney dates nine months in advance but buys his wife’s birthday present the day of her birthday!” A little over two years ago we found ourselves locked out of Hi-Line Lanes. A year later almost to the day, Ron Tompt rescued us and reopened the alleys. It is very hard to say “thanks for saving us” and “good-bye” all in the same breath but that is what’s happening. It is with deep regret that I must say so long to a great guy and new friend. A guy that gave us back something that we wanted so much, our bowling. Things have not worked out the way he had hoped and the way we all prayed for. Ron will be returning to his home at Medicine Lake, when or if we will ever see him again is anybody’s guess. Where our bowling will go from here is a good question, I only hope we will be able to finish this season. What is to come in the future no one knows, but if there is a bowling god out there, we sure need him now. So long Ron, we are going to miss you. You were the best thing that had happened to us in a very long time. We thank you for the time you gave us and hope you know how greatful we are to you. The PeeWee league will begin bowling this Sunday at 2 p.m. with registration beginning at 1:30 p.m. If you have been looking for the youth scores, don’t give up. They should be here next week and will be from the first session. There is still time to sign-up for any of the leagues. Bantams and Preps bowl at 1 p.m. and all others at 3:45 on Sunday afternoons. A few years ago, Mike Hamilton had a shot at a 300-game but came up short on his last ball. Mike was given another chance last Sunday night and this time scored a perfect game. Hamilton was born in Glasgow and after a short stay in Kalispell his family located to Havre in 1968. It was here that Mike began bowling in the junior program about 32 years ago. He has had many 600-series, four-game 900-series, and along with the three this season, several 700-series. Mike has scored many big games but like most others, fell short of the 300 mark but not this time. Congratulations Mike on your super game. Tiffany Laisnez has a birthday on Thursday. Donna Mangold and Judi Adams have age-adders on Sunday and Corinne DeVries gains one on Tuesday. Jeff Nelson picked an 8-10, Anna Marabella and Shannon Kardell 5-7s, Chad Anderson, Chris Young, Randy Randolph, and Harold Anderson 6-7- 10s, Jackie Mayer 5-10, Dianne Watson and Becky Wimmer 4-5-7s, and Steve Brown a 3-7 and a 6-7-10. Chris Drew threw the high-game of 234 and Kathy Moran’s 551 was the high series. Chris had a 533, Peggy Christofferson a 213, Vicki Clark a 539, Myrna Morse a 515, Dianne Watson a 530, and Barb DeRosa and Michale Beck 508s. I guess you could say Mike Hamilton’s 300 was the high game and a 652 by Shawn Mariani had the series. Mike had a 640 and Shawn games of 243 and 258. Dave Hamilton shot a 242 and 634, Minnow Mariani a 241, Randy Christofferson a 253 and 603, Byron Eggum a 603 and Bret Preeshl a 615. The high four-game series of 827 belonged to Shawn Mariani. Chad Anderson had a 783, Ron Turner a 779 and Ken Erickson a 776.
