LOUISE PUTNAM obituary GREAT FALLS

Louise (Morelli) Putnam, 77, of Great Falls, died of natural causes Monday, Jan. 7, 2008, at Peace Hospice.

Cremation has taken place. Services will be held at a later date. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Survivors include daughters Julie Black of Great Falls, Karen Winterrowd of Black Eagle and Barbara (Bob) Walker of Las Vegas, Nev.; stepsons Charles (Linda) Black of Cascade and Gerald Black of Texas; a stepdaughter, Geraldine (Lynn) Cole of Michigan; a brother, Bob (Barbara) Morelli of Havre; one granddaughter, Courtney (Ryan) Moody and her great-grandchildren, Jared, Joshua and Jaelyn, all of Great Falls. Louise was born Feb. 10, 1930 in Havre, Mont. She married William “Bill” Spaulding in 1948. They moved to Great Falls and later divorced. She married H. J. “Put” Putnam in 1959. They both worked at the Elbon Club for many years before moving to Stanford and buying the Pump Bar in 1971. They worked there until selling the bar and retiring in 1977. They became snowbirds and enjoyed their winters in Arizona until 1981, when they then moved to Havre to be closer to her mother. After her husband and mother passed away, she moved back to Great Falls in 1997 to be with her daughters. In 2001, she met Melvin Black and he became her loving companion until his death in 2006. Louise loved to play cards, do crossword puzzles, flower gardening, traveling and was an avid reader. She volunteered for many years at the Havre Public Library and thoroughly enjoyed being active in promoting reading for all age groups. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her partner, Melvin Black; her parents, Julius and Marie Morelli; a sister, Julie Turner, all of Havre, Mont.; and a sonin- law, Mike Winterrowd.
